Coachella is set to make a grand return to the desert next month, and festival organizers have pulled out all the stops with their latest addition: the Quasar stage. This stage marks the festival’s first EDM-specific set in over a decade, promising festival-goers an electrifying experience.
The lineup for the Quasar stage has been revealed, featuring top-notch DJs who will be playing three-plus hour sets. Artists like Diplo, Mau P, Honey Dijon, Green Velvet, Jamie xx, Floating Points, Daphni, Eric Prydz, and Anyma are set to take the stage. Additionally, solo sets from Michel Bibi and Rüfüs Du Sol are also on the cards.
According to Jennifer Yocoubian, Coachella’s producer at Goldenvoice, the introduction of Quasar is a game-changer for the festival. Yocoubian stated that they wanted to create a stage where they could book talent in a way that hadn’t been done before, allowing for longer DJ sets and a more traditional DJ stage experience.
The Quasar stage, designed by renowned Coachella stage designer Vita Modus, will feature two massive LED walls flanking the artists in the middle. With mirrors on the sides that reflect the desert landscape back to the audience, Quasar offers a visually immersive experience unlike any other.
This new stage dedicated to dance music is the first of its kind to debut at Coachella since the Yuma stage in 2013. It will occupy the space that was formerly home to the Sahara tent, which will be relocated to make room for Quasar. This signals a shift towards showcasing the best of EDM at the festival and promises an unforgettable experience for attendees.
