A Fusion of Tradition and Innovation: The Dutch in Milan

Masterly – The Dutch in Milano is set to hold its eighth edition with the theme, “The Good of Tradition, the Beauty of Innovation”, showcasing Dutch design excellence during Milan Design Week. Curated by Nicole Uniquole, the event will feature 85 participants highlighting cutting-edge designs and installations.

Supported by the Embassy and Consulate of the Kingdom of The Netherlands, the exhibition will take place at the stunning Palazzo Giureconsulti in Milan, Italy. The historic venue will be creatively integrated into the visitor experience, blending installations with its architecture to provide an immersive experience.

The event aims to showcase the evolution of Dutch design by combining traditional values with innovative concepts. Participants will present projects that focus on innovation, sustainability, and reuse through mediums like 3D printing, artificial intelligence, and unique materials.

Noteworthy projects include a 3D-printed installation by Aectual, sculptural lamps by Rollo Studio, and biomaterial creations by various designers. The exhibition will also feature collaborations like the Icons Re/Outfitted project, where Vitra and Levi’s© reinterpret historical seats using recycled denim.

An intriguing exhibit titled “ROOTS” by Simone van Es will shed light on environmental issues by utilizing bio-based materials. The event will also include discussions and architect talks, offering insights into the design process.

A unique Dutch tradition of distributing Orchidee Netherlands specimens to attendees will mark the end of the event, showcasing Dutch elegance and tradition.
