Career Pathways Team Collects Funds for Families in Need

Clearfield County Career and Technology Center Students Support Foster Families with Technology Donations

Clearfield, PA – In an inspiring initiative, the students of the Information Technology Career Pathways Team at The Clearfield County Career and Technology Center (CCCTC) are playing a pivotal role in supporting local foster care families by providing essential technology resources. This school year, they have made it their mission to bridge the digital divide experienced by many families in need, particularly those in the foster care system.

Recognizing that technology has become increasingly integral in education and communication, the students sought to ensure that foster families are equipped with the necessary tools to thrive. To achieve this goal, they reached out to the community for support by partnering with local businesses that generously contributed to their cause. Additionally, to raise awareness and engage the community, the team organized a 90s-themed Family Dance in February, which served as both a fun event and a fundraiser.

The combination of their efforts and community generosity resulted in significant success, allowing the team to raise enough funds to provide five foster families with essential technology. Each family received a package containing a desktop computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse, and a multi-function printer. These resources will not only facilitate the educational efforts of the children in these homes but also enhance communication and administrative capabilities for foster parents.

Key participants in this initiative include students Wyatt Beirlair from Curwensville, Cole Spencer from Clearfield, and Taylor Blantz from Clearfield. Their leadership and commitment to the project have helped bring this meaningful endeavor to fruition, demonstrating the positive impact that young people can have in addressing social issues within their communities.

This project highlights the growing recognition of the importance of technology access in fostering educational advancement and opportunity, especially for children in difficult circumstances. As educational institutions increasingly emphasize the need for digital literacy, initiatives such as this underline the importance of community collaboration in supporting vulnerable populations.

The success of the Information Technology Career Pathways Team at CCCTC serves as a testament to the power of empathy and proactive involvement among students and community members alike, setting a commendable example for others to follow. As challenges continue to arise in foster care systems, efforts like these not only provide tangible resources but also foster a sense of hope and stability for families who strive to create positive environments for their children.
