‘Exciting News: ‘Backyard Farmer’ Show is Heading to Hastings College’

Nebraska Public Media is set to embark on a spring tour with a fantastic lineup of events and entertainment throughout Central Nebraska. One of the highlights includes the recording of an episode of “Backyard Farmer” at Hastings College on Monday, June 10.

During the On the Road Tour stop in Hastings, Nebraska Public Media will kick off with a PBS KIDS Family Event from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at Hastings Public Library, followed by the “Backyard Farmer” event at Hastings College. All activities are free and open to the public.

The “Backyard Farmer” festivities will commence at 4:30 p.m. in the greenspace by Hurley-McDonald Hall and Perkins Library. Families can enjoy hands-on gardening activities and participate in a question-and-answer session.

At 6:00 p.m., community members are encouraged to join the audience for the live recording of a “Backyard Farmer” episode. Seats will be provided, and parking is available in the Morrison-Reeves Science Center lot or other campus lots. Please note that Circle Drive will be closed for the event.

The episode recorded at Hastings College on June 10 will air on June 13 and will feature a special segment on the Hastings College Arboretum.

“Backyard Farmer” is a collaboration between Nebraska Public Media and Nebraska Extension, with host Kim Todd and a panel of experts answering questions about insects, diseases, turf, fruits, vegetables, landscape design, and horticulture.
