Los Alamos Invites Families to Community Conversation on Emotional Intelligence
In an effort to promote emotional intelligence and foster community engagement, Los Alamos Public Schools, in collaboration with the Juvenile Justice Advisory Board (JJAB), Los Alamos County, and the Family Council, is hosting a Community Conversation event on June 3. The event will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the SALA Los Alamos Event Center, located at 2551 Central Ave. This initiative is free of charge and aims to support families in navigating the complexities of emotional communication and understanding.
The evening will commence with a complimentary dinner available to all attendees. Following the meal, parents will be guided through a program focusing on emotional intelligence. This segment will include discussions centered on real-life scenarios, providing practical tools and strategies to enhance conversations about emotions with their children. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in group discussions, allowing them to share experiences and connect with other families within the community. This collaborative environment is seen as a vital component in building a support network for parents facing similar challenges.
Simultaneously, children will have the chance to attend a screening of the popular animated film Inside Out, offering them an entertaining way to engage with themes of emotion and understanding. The screening will include complimentary popcorn and soda, ensuring a fun night for younger attendees while their parents participate in the main event.
The organizers emphasize the importance of building relationships and enhancing emotional resilience among families. “We hope to foster a sense of community and provide practical tools that can be applied in everyday family life,” said a representative from the organizing team. “We encourage all families to join us for an evening of learning, connection, and fun! We ask that you register in advance so we can accommodate everyone and order the correct amount of food.”
This Community Conversation event represents a significant opportunity for residents of Los Alamos to come together in a supportive setting, share insights, and equip themselves with valuable resources to enhance communication and understanding within families. Parents are encouraged to register ahead of time to ensure ample preparation for the expected number of attendees.
