Heroic Hearts Academy: A New Family-Owned Child Care Facility in Bastrop Operated by First Responders

In a notable addition to the community in Bastrop, Texas, a new family-owned child care facility named Heroic Hearts Academy has officially opened its doors. This innovative establishment is distinguished not only by its unique ownership structure but also by its commitment to providing high-quality care for children. Operated by six family members, all of whom are professionals in the emergency medical and law enforcement sectors, Heroic Hearts Academy aims to offer a nurturing and structured environment for children from the age of six weeks to twelve years.

Heroic Hearts Academy is a licensed child care facility that addresses the growing need for dependable child care services in the region. The academy’s program is thoughtfully designed to cater to different age groups, offering specialized care and curricula. The facility provides an infant care program for children aged six weeks to twelve months, a toddler program for ages twelve to thirty-six months, and a preschool curriculum for children aged three to five years. Additionally, it includes an after-school program that accommodates children up to twelve years old, thereby serving families throughout their children’s developmental stages.

Currently, Heroic Hearts Academy provides after-school care for students from Colony Oaks Elementary within the Bastrop Independent School District (BISD). However, Brittany Harkins, the academy’s director and co-owner, has expressed aspirations for expansion, highlighting plans to reach other campuses in the near future. This initiative not only demonstrates the facility’s commitment to community involvement but also aims to alleviate some of the challenges families face when balancing work and child care.

The establishment celebrated its opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, an event held on March 4 in partnership with the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce. This occasion marked not just a milestone for the academy but also a step forward in enhancing local child care options. The presence of first responders in the academy’s leadership adds a layer of trust and dedication, as these individuals are often recognized within the community for their commitment to service and safety.

Heroic Hearts Academy represents a commendable effort to enhance child care accessibility while supporting working families in Bastrop. As the community continues to grow, facilities like Heroic Hearts are crucial in fostering a stable and supportive environment for the youngest residents, ensuring they receive the attention and education they need during their formative years. For parents seeking reliable child care, Heroic Hearts Academy emphasizes a familial approach founded on the values of compassion, responsibility, and community engagement.
