Rock in Rio is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2024 with the launch of a musical production titled “Sonhos, Lama e Rock and Roll.” This original work will be presented at Cidade do Rock during this year’s edition of the festival.
The musical will delve into the history of the largest music and entertainment festival in the world, taking the audience on a journey behind the scenes of the creation of Rock in Rio. Created by Robert Medina, with musical production by Zé Ricardo and the conception of Charles Moeller and Claudio Botelho, the production will combine live music with captivating performances.
The musical is expected to have a duration of 35 minutes and will have four showings every day of the festival, taking place in one of the arenas at the City of Rock.
Robert Medina, president of Rock World, expressed excitement about the production, stating, “The spectacle has not passed, remembering the year of 1984 when the idea of hosting a massive international music festival in the city was seen as an unreachable dream. We are working tirelessly to ensure that everything is perfect for the audience.”
The plot of “Sonhos, Lama e Rock and Roll” will follow the determined and passionate Maria Antônia Lobo, played by Malu Rodrigues and Bel Kutner, as she navigates the world of advertising and entertainment. As she embarks on a journey through an advertising agency, viewers will witness her professional growth and unwavering pursuit of her dreams.
Set against the backdrop of a political and economic crisis in Brazil, the musical reflects the boldness required to turn dreams into reality. Audiences will be swept up in a rollercoaster of emotions, culminating in a powerful finale that celebrates resilience, creativity, and the spirit of Rock in Rio.
