Penn State Behrend Gears Up for Annual Parents, Families, and Alumni Weekend

ERIE, Pa. — The upcoming Parents, Families, and Alumni Weekend at Penn State Behrend is set to engage the community from October 17 to 19, 2024. This beloved fall tradition not only celebrates the essence of the Behrend campus but also strengthens bonds among students, alumni, and their families through a series of carefully curated events.

Registration for the weekend’s activities is now live and can be accessed through the Parents, Families, and Alumni Weekend webpage. According to Chancellor Ralph Ford, “Fall is such a beautiful time here at Behrend, and it provides the perfect backdrop to invite all members of the Behrend community to come together and celebrate the college.” This statement highlights the commitment of the administration to foster a sense of belonging for everyone affiliated with the institution.

Kicking off the weekend, new programming will feature an all-alumni celebration on Friday evening, beginning at 6 p.m. in McGarvey Commons. This event aims to reunite graduates from various decades and honor distinguished Alumni Award recipients, fostering connections that span generations.

Saturday is packed with family-oriented activities, including a carnival suitable for attendees of all ages. Participants can look forward to games, inflatables, and craft stations, which provide a perfect opportunity for families to bond and create lasting memories. Additionally, a family picnic lunch, campus tours, planetarium shows, and an ice cream social with live music from the Behrend pep band will round out the day’s agenda. A highlight of Saturday night will include the traditionally popular Midnight Bingo, launching at 7 p.m. with family-friendly engagement in mind.

Attendees eager for interactive experiences can engage in a “selfie walk” featuring five picturesque stops around the campus, including the newly developed Glenhill Gardens, encouraging a blend of social media connection and scenic appreciation. Moreover, the historic Glenhill Farmhouse will open its doors for guided tours throughout the weekend, offering insights into the rich history of the Behrend campus.

For those looking for a more active experience, the Behrend Benefiting THON 5K will take place on Sunday at 10 a.m., promoting health and community spirit.
