Registration Now Open for 2024 Pirate Zombie Mud Run at Peninsula College
PORT ANGELES, WA — The highly anticipated Pirate Zombie Mud Run is set to return on May 17 at Peninsula College, with registration now open for all interested participants. This unique event promises to provide a thrilling and family-friendly obstacle course experience for teams consisting of four to eight people.
Rick Ross, advisor to the student government and an advocate for campus activities, remarked on the event’s significance: “This was one of the most popular events on campus before the pandemic. It’s not just a run — it’s a hilarious, muddy, unforgettable way to bond with friends, coworkers, or your family. In my 30 years at Peninsula College, this one stands out as pure fun.”
The 2-mile course will challenge contestants as it winds through the scenic campus and adjacent woods. Participants can expect a variety of exciting challenges, including inflatable slides, a foam cannon, a muddy crawl pit, water blasters, and, perhaps most amusingly, zombies attempting to seize their flag belts. This combination of physical challenge and playful absurdity defines the spirit of the event, making it a unique offering in the region’s recreational calendar.
Competitors who successfully navigate the course while retaining their flags will be rewarded with a survivor’s medal, symbolizing their triumph over the mischievous zombies. Those who are “infected” during the course can visit the first aid tent for a humorous “zombie antidote,” enabling them to reclaim their humanity and promote the event’s festive and lighthearted nature.
“We’re beyond excited to bring this tradition back to life,” said Jason Peters, the student body vice president. “We’re turning our peaceful campus and surrounding woods into a post-apocalyptic playground. You bring the energy — we’ll bring the zombies, mud, and chaos. Come ready to survive.”
The entry fee for the event is set at per person, for current Peninsula College students, and for a family of four until April 30. After this date, prices will rise to per person, for students, and for the family package. Early registration is encouraged to secure the best rates.
Event organizers are eager to draw participants from across the local community and beyond, as they aim to revive the enthusiasm that characterized past iterations of the run. To register and embrace the mud-filled adventure, interested individuals can visit the official event page at Peninsula College for more information. This event not only serves as an excellent opportunity for physical activity but also fosters community spirit and camaraderie among participants of all ages.
