12th Annual Art Groove Brings Arts and Music to Springs Again

Art lovers and music enthusiasts can look forward to the return of the beloved Art Groove group exhibition and music event at Ashawagh Hall in Springs this weekend, from April 19 to April 21. This 12th annual event promises a vibrant showcase of art alongside rocking tunes, with a few surprises in store for attendees.

The lineup of 18 contemporary artists includes renowned sculptor Hans Van de Bovenkamp, along with a talented group of local artists. The musical entertainment kicks off with Frank Latorre and the King Bees on Saturday at 7 p.m., followed by a dance party led by DJ G-Funk at 8 p.m.

The diverse roster of artists features names like Barbara Bilotta, Rosalind Brenner, Michael Cardacino, Donna Corvi, Jody Cukier, Paul Dempsey, Susan Friend, Frank Latorre, Michael McDowell, and more. Geralyne Lewandowski, the founder and organizer of Art Groove, was inspired by the late Vito Sisti and his community-focused art shows that incorporated music.

A unique aspect of Art Groove is giving artists the freedom to curate their display on a portion of the wall, allowing for a more personalized showcase. The event also includes a dance party, setting it apart from traditional art exhibitions.

While many artists return year after year, Lewandowski makes a point to introduce new talent to keep the show fresh. Notable returning artists include Rosalind Brenner, Michael Cardacino, and Joyce Raimondo, while newcomers like Donna Corvi and Ronnie Grill bring fresh perspectives to the event.

Hans Van de Bovenkamp will be showcasing paintings instead of his usual sculptures, with proceeds from book signings going to various charities. Additionally, a portion of the proceeds from specially designated artworks will be donated to charitable causes.

The event will also pay tribute to the late Nadine Daskaloff, a former Art Groove collective member. Visitors can enjoy live music, videos, and art sales throughout the weekend, culminating in a celebration of creativity and community spirit.

Art Groove promises a weekend of art, music, and good vibes, with something for everyone to enjoy. Don’t miss out on this free event that celebrates the intersection of art and music. Visit to learn more.
