Alta Care Group Enhances Mental Health Services in Trumbull and Columbiana Counties
BOARDMAN, Ohio – In a significant development for mental health services in the region, Alta Care Group has announced the expansion of its Mobile Responsive Stabilization Services (MRSS) program into Trumbull and Columbiana counties. This initiative aims to provide accessible and immediate mental health support to individuals aged 21 and under who are experiencing severe emotional or behavioral distress.
The MRSS program serves as a crucial alternative to traditional inpatient care. Individuals or their families can initiate the process by calling the national crisis hotline, 988. A trained member of the MRSS team will connect with the caller, ensuring that support is available within an impressive timeframe of just 60 minutes. Following this initial contact, Alta’s team, comprised of licensed clinicians and peer recovery support staff, is dispatched to provide on-site assistance.
The expansion into Trumbull and Columbiana counties is particularly noteworthy. Alta Care Group will now act as the regional management provider in these areas, on top of its existing services in Mahoning County. Coleman Health Services is designated as a subcontractor in Trumbull County, while Ohio Guidestone will partner with Alta in Columbiana County to facilitate MRSS operations during weekday hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Vince Paolucci, CEO of Alta Care Group, expressed his enthusiasm for this expanded service, highlighting the organization’s commitment to addressing mental health needs in the Valley. “We’re honored by the expanded role Alta Care Group is able to provide throughout the Valley with the MRSS program,” he stated. Paolucci noted that the MRSS service, active since 2022, has proven to be a valuable resource for individuals and families, offering timely care when it is most crucial.
In addition to immediate response services, Alta Care Group provides ongoing support for families for up to six weeks post-intervention. This follow-up can take place in various settings, including schools or at home, and typically encompasses a range of services. These include safety assessments, planning sessions, and connections to additional resources. Parents are also offered the opportunity to connect with peer supporters who have lived experience, fostering an environment of understanding and shared coping strategies.
With mental health challenges increasingly recognized as a pressing public health issue, initiatives like the MRSS program are vital in promoting early intervention and comprehensive care. The expansion of Alta Care Group’s services not only reflects a commitment to improving mental health outcomes for youth but also underscores the importance of accessibility in mental health care across Ohio.
