Construction Begins on Pediatric Outpatient Center

CoxHealth Breaks Ground on Comprehensive Pediatric Outpatient Center in Springfield, Missouri

CoxHealth, a prominent healthcare provider based in Springfield, Missouri, has officially commenced construction on a state-of-the-art pediatric outpatient center, which is poised to become the largest and most comprehensive facility of its kind in the southwest Missouri region. The newly announced St. Louis Children’s at CoxHealth Specialty Care Center is designed to address the growing needs of pediatric healthcare, with significant implications for families seeking specialized medical services.

The innovative collaboration between CoxHealth and St. Louis Children’s Hospital, supported by Washington University School of Medicine, underscores a commitment to enhancing pediatric care in the area. The ambitious project, featuring an impressive 133,000-square-foot facility, will integrate a range of essential services aimed at improving patient outcomes and accessibility. This holistic approach will include ambulatory surgery, urgent care, pediatric primary and specialty care, laboratory services, imaging, infusion therapy, sleep studies, and pharmacy services.

In an effort to address the prevalent issue of pediatric patients in the region seeking care outside their local area, the center is expected to significantly reduce the need for families to travel long distances. Current statistics indicate that nearly one-third of pediatric patients from this region leave for specialized care; this facility aims to localize high-quality healthcare, minimizing delays and enhancing convenience for families.

Among the specialties that will be available at the new center are pediatric cardiology, hematology-oncology, ophthalmology, surgery, and urology. Each of these specialties addresses critical health concerns that affect children’s physical and emotional well-being, ensuring that a wide spectrum of healthcare needs is met under one roof.

The project has been bolstered by a generous million donation, reflecting the community’s commitment to advancing healthcare services for its youngest members. Anticipated to open in the summer of 2027, the St. Louis Children’s at CoxHealth Specialty Care Center represents a significant investment in the region’s healthcare infrastructure, promising to enhance the overall quality of care for pediatric patients and their families.

In light of recent trends towards integrated healthcare models, this new center serves as a pivotal development for Springfield and surrounding areas, ultimately aiming to provide accessible, specialized healthcare and foster better health outcomes for children in need. As construction progresses, the community eagerly awaits the unveiling of this landmark facility, which aims not only to transform pediatric care but also to enrich the lives of families in southwest Missouri.
